As most of you know I lost my precious Smokey last Sunday. This has been the longest week of my life. I just ordered a pendant that will have an etching of SMokey's cute face, I can't wait to get. My husband on the other hand wasn't sure what to do, he didn't want to walk around with a heart necklace like me. So he just got a tatoo today. I was so happy he wanted to do something for SMokey. Men can sometimes be closed off. I love it and I wanted to share it with everyone. The paw print in not actually SMokey's but his best friend Dudley's. They were the same size and since we did not have SMokey's this was the next best thing. I hope you all like it.

very cool, now I am inspired, I always wanted one of my cat summer on the back of my leg, she was blk and had only one eye and I thought it would look kind of cool, now, Moose, I would love to have his face tatooed on my shoulder, these would be done in a dainty kind of way as I have never had a tatoo, but I like the idea of the pendent, where did u find a place to inscribe? I think that you guys have honored Smokey in a bueatiful way. Pamela

Nice tattoo Kelly!
I have my Bijou's paw print.Weird thing is during the summer months waaaayy before she lost the use of her back legs I took two paw prints in clay to prove to the vet that she used to stiffen her paws because everytime I went about this problem her paws weren't stiff. So now I have 2 paw prints in clay of hers. She had abnormally big paws for a little dog.LOL!
Can't wait to see your necklace!

Kelly,
I think that's absolutely great! As you say, men can sometimes be a bit more closed off about things like this, so I think it's really cool your husband's done that. I'm really impressed! And it looks like the tatooist has done a really good job too.
And Bijou's Best Friend - that's so nice that you ended up with Bijou's paw prints immortalised in clay.

Kelly,
I think that is awesome! What an honor for Smokey! Like you said, men can be so closed and that your husband wanted to honor and remember Smokey like this is just wonderful. I know Smokey is looking down and smiling!
Smokey was SO lucky to have a family that loved him SO much, and now to show that continuing love for his spirit in your life now.

wow! that rocks! i, too, am looking for something to remind me always of my kitty. i have looked on ebay for a cat angel key chain - something that i can have engraved. i was thinking about buying a houseplant in her memory but how awful would it be if it died (which would probably happen). i want to do something - just not sure what. i'm not brave enough to get a tatoo. i think that it is so sweet that smokey will be with your husband forever on his arm. wow, i'm sure he's so proud that his parents love him so much. by the way, smokey is absolutely beautiful. ah

Thanks everyone!!
Denise, Weimaraners are all pretty much the same color, greyish silver, some are real dark. Smokey had a great coat it was so shiny. My husband said that it didn't hurt when he got the tattoo, but even if it did he would tell me. I am realy glad everyone likes it. I am thinking of getting one but I don't know what yet. Thanks again!!

I just wanted to show everyone what Dudley, Smokey's best friend looks like.
Smokey is on the left and Dudley is on the right. My friend ( Dudley's Father is in the middle) This is not the best picture but it is all I have right now.

Hi Kelly, Your husband's tattoo is really totally awesome and that was a wonderful thing for him to do for Smokey. I believe men love their babies as much as women but they are afraid to express it in words.
When I grew up in Southern California I saw all kinds of Weimaraners and they are beautiful dogs. Now that I live in Michigan I have not seen any of them, not even one.

Hi Whittley,
How are you doing? Isn't it so hard accepting thier death? It's 1 month and a day for me now since Bijou left this earth and my heartbreak is still here.I too had to seek out this place for support.People who are not animal lovers just don't understand.I actually feel sad for those people because they will never experience the wonderful effects on our spirit of loving an animal and being loved by an animal.
Yes, I am so grateful I had that "brainstorm" to take her pawprints.I have since baked and glazed them and I often just touch them.
Was Winston completely black? or did he have a little white somewhere on his body?
He sure looks like a sweetheart.

Hi Kelly,
I love the idea of the tatoo. It is great that your husband wanted to do that. Very cute picture also of Smokey, Dudley and Daddy. I am sure Smokey really appreciates it.
I want to get a statue that looks like my baby as a memorial.

I am touched by the depth of your husband's sensitivity and devotion to the ones he loves.
Impressive. (and as someone with a tattoo myself - I am jealous I didn't think of that for Edgar and Jesse)

In response to the question from Bijou's Best Friend:
Hi there, yes I feel sad for those kind of people too, they don't know what they're missing out on. The love between people & animals is such a beautiful, fulfilling love. I get so much joy out of my furbabies - my dear departed Winston, & Basil, my other cat (big soppy fluffy furkitty) who rushes to meet me every time he hears my key in the door. That's so nice you baked & glazed Bijou's pawprints - what a beautiful thing to have - & they'll last for ever.
Yes, Winston was all black. The amount of times I nearly trod on him in the dark because I just couldn't see him! He must have had a real presence in the local cat community because now he's gone, I keep coming back home to find various neighbour's cats asleep on my sofa (they get in through the catflap!). They never would have dared do that when he was here - one look from him would have sent them packing! Basil's too much of a softie to scare them away!
Do you have a photo of Bijou? That would be great to see her.
And Kelly - you'll have to show us your pendant when you get it! That's a lovely idea.
Hugs to both of you.

Hi Wittley!
I guess at night you had to definitely be pretty careful where you stepped with him being all black.I guess if something soft and silky rubbed on you and you couldn't see it - you knew it was Winston....or you hoped it was Winston!LOL!
Gosh I love the names you chose Winston and Basil.I guess Winston was your guard cat. At least you live in a lovely neighbourhood where you can allow your neighbour's pet's in. Here I am full of stray cats.I have all ready spayed and neutered about 10 stray cats.I found homes for a few. The thing is we have a bylaw that doesn't allow us to feed the strays...as if not feeding them helps the problem. It is not the cats faults -it's the ignorant people here. You cannot imagine how many times I've noticed the neighbours move and leave thier cat behind.A couple of them I managed to find out where they moved to and they claim they thought they lost the cat, yet they don't want it anymore.I guess that is thier story and they are sticking to it.Not much I can do since animal protection are virtually non existent here. I still feed them and provide shelter in my storage room just behind my garage. I have been to burrough meetings to give my suggestions about helping the strays but all I get after is a fancy polite letter.Anyway.
Thank you. Bijou was very pretty.A little lady of only 20 -25 lbs.She always walked like she was in a parade waving her fancy pretty tail.LOL!

Dear Amber,
Just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about the passing of your best friend Kitty Friday.I lost my best friend Bijou on January 13th so I know how hard it is for you right now.
Kitty Friday is beautiful! Love that white stripe on her head.
I'm sharing a pic with you of a little stray that I found and nursed to health last year and who in fact I still babysit quite often. She has that white strip on her head too that looks like a part in thier hair. Her name is "Develle".
